Since the sixth grade, I have taken interest in what this woman says and does. Unknowing of its powerful message and infamy, I memorized"I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings". I feel as thought it is only as I begin to creep closer to the "real world" (still very much in denial...) that I can see the modern woman-in-the-work/life-force application of the poem's message. In her words, I think it's high time to adapt her words as a mantra:
"Life's a bitch. You've got to go out and kick a--."
